Welcome to Moss Vale Show Society
For 123 years, Moss Vale Show Society has been responsible for the running of the annual Agricultural Show, at the beautiful slice of the local landscape, which is the Moss Vale Showground. Situated on 24 acres of tree studded land, on the outskirts of the town, the Showground exists for the benefit of the entire Southern Highlands. The site is owned by the members of the Society, and new members are most welcome. The aim of the Society is to encourage use by the wider community, and welcomes request by community groups seeking a well equipped venue.
The organising Committee consists of 30 Volunteers, responsible for the year round maintenance of the Showground and to give community access for many and varied annual activities such as:
• Moss Vale Pony Club has 26 Instruction Days each year, plus 2 Gymkhanas
• Riding for the Disabled Fundraising ‘Chicken Run’, young and not-so-young riders having an encouraging day of Dressage & Jumping
• Junior Cattle Judging Days, encouraging young farmers
• Many Horse Breed Shows plus an Autumn and Spring Horse Show
• Poultry Breeder’s Show
• ‘Avago’ Combined Training Competition of Showjumping & Dressage
• Cutting Competition, ridden horses demonstrating their skill with cutting cattle in the pen
• Youth Gymkhana
• Lion’s Club Barbeque for disadvantaged or disabled persons
In addition it is the venue for Children’s Gymnastics, Community Markets, Travelling Circus and Junior AFL on a regular basis.
The major event of each year, is the Moss Vale & District Show. The popularity of this show brings up to 14,000 to the show each year. It is a wonderful showcase of the skills of the people, both young and old, of this district and of the great standard of animals raised in this unique agricultural area. In addition, it is a wonderful venue to showcase the businesses and services of the district.
